FOURTH INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL FOR ORTHODOX MUSIC

“THEOTOKOS - IT IS TRULY MEET”

 7-11 JUNE 2007 - POMORIE, BULGARIA

 

    The Festival is held under the patronage of His Grace Ioanikij, Bishop of Sliven.

    Executive director of the Festival is the Mayor of the town of Pomorie Eng. Peter Zlatanov.

   Organizers: the Municipality of Pomorie, the Sliven Diocese, the Cultural CentårSlavyanska Besseda”- Sofia.

 

The FOURTH International Festival for Orthodox Music “Theotokos - It Is Truly Meet” is organized as a response to the  growing  interest  in  Orthodox music, in its preservation  and  dissemination, in  the  creation  and  performance of modern Orthodox chants worldwide.

The organizers will have the pleasure for the FOURTH time to welcome choirs from Bulgaria and abroad in the picturesque Black Sea resort Pomorie from the 7th to 11th June 2007.

The  participants  will  have the opportunity  to  visit some of the  most  famous historical  and  cultural sights along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast in the region of Bourgas, Pomorie and Nessebar.

Festival Commitee

Honorary Chairman of the Festival Committee is the Bishop of the Sliven Diocese His Grace Joanikij.

 

Chairman of the Festival Committee is associate professor Dimitar Dimitrov – head of department in the Theological Faculty of Sofia University “St. Climent Ochridski”, and conductor of the choir at the Cathedral “Alexander Nevski”, and also conductor of the choir “St. Joan Kukuzel”.

 

Members of the Committee:

Prof. Stefan Hurkov – a PhD in arts, one of the best specialists on Orthodox music in Europe

Conductor Jordanka PanchevaTudjarova – a lecturer in music and head of the theoretical department at the National High-School of Music and Performing Arts in Burgas.

Composer Georgi Popov – winner of a number of awards in Bulgaria and abroad
